KITSONIAN SINN FEIN COUNTER-REVOLUTIONARY COLLABORATION

Part of the Kitsonian manual of British Dirty War in Ireland, includes using the courts and detention system, as part of the process of criminalizing and isolating Irish POWs in Maghaberry, from their communities' struggle on the outside, and also isolating them from their leadership within the prison system. This was part of what led up to the death of 10 hunger strikers previously, but yet again Sinn Fein are also abusing the current POWs, for political expediency. The admission recently of events explained, in part of the statement from IRPWA below, demonstrates this. It also demonstrates, that the loyalist DUP are politicizing the treatment of POWs, while Sinn Fein, who are also part of the Stormont Junta, appear to be enabling it. Juan Mendez of the UN, needs to be contacted, regarding this breach of Human Rights, by both Sinn Fein and the DUP Junta. Sinn Fein seems to have a very short memory, about the treatment of Irish POWs, or perhaps yet again, they would prefer airbrush all of these facts, from the current political landscape, with their British illusion of normalization.

Statement from Roe 4 Republican Prisoners 8/3/15


Prisoner Ombudsman and Prison Oversight Bodies are Paper Tigers.

From its inception in 2005, Republican Political Prisoners in Roe House have been zealously engaging the office of the Prisoner Ombudsman in an effort to resolve serious issues of concern. We have found that the Prisoner Ombudsman is at times weak and is used by the Jail administration as afaçade of accountability. We have regularly used its complaints systems, as well as multiple meetings with former Prisoner Ombudsman Pauline McCabe and the current Prisoner Ombudsman Tom McGonigle, with a view to resolving all on-going issues. In the last quarter alone, the complaints which we have registered number in the hundreds.

During the recent attack on a Republican prisoner by the Jail’s Riot Squad and the subsequent lock-down, the ombudsman was being kept up to speed (during and after the events) via phone calls. He was also made aware that medical treatments, along with legal and social visits, were being withheld. Despite this, it took several days for him to arrive at the Jail and in spite of having viewed video and physical evidence of the events confirming the account of Republican prisoners; he has yet to contradict the blatant lies issued by David Ford and Sue McAllister. For the Prisoner Ombudsman to cite Prison Rule 79 (part VIII) or Terms of Reference for Complaints as a means to avoid its responsibility can only be seen as submitting to these bodies, and cannot be viewed as having any degree of impartiality or independence.

Pauline McCabe released a report, nearing the end of her tenure, in May 2013, in which she made a number of recommendations. The Jail administration largely ignored the substantive recommendations within her detailed report. After further multiple complaints, and meetings with ourselves relating to this, Tom McGonigle compiled and released his report, recommending the Stocktake in June 2014, in order to re-engage the implementation process of, and remove ambiguity from, the August 2010 Agreement.

What as come of the recommendations and of the reports? In short, the Jail administration had dismissed the views and intent of those substantive recommendations regarding Republican Roe House; ignored the recommendations which do not suits its agenda; and twisted others to give the impression of fairness. Prevarication and unaccountability are the order of the day.

Security Governor Brian Armour stated, when confronted with the Ombudsman’s recommendation on controlled movement, that the Prisoner Ombudsman “was not qualified” to make that recommendation. Further recommendations have been repeatedly ignored or rejected by the Jail, including recently, those related to 35 complaints regarding persistent sleep deprivation, and continuous ‘alarm tests’, by night guards. This aggravating issue has been challenged ad nauseam during both Pauline McCabe and Tom McGonigle’s time in office, whilst the Jail persists with its sleep deprivation policy, and other methods of psychological torture unabated.

The conduct, and lack of grit, shown by Tom McGonigle and others involved in the complaints, assessment and facilitation process within the Jail, will only serve to embolden those who are determined to provoke conflict. The prolongation of instability within the Jail is the only definite result of evasive and political responses from bodies who are supposed to be independent and averse to political interference.

Republican Political Prisoners

BRITAIN PHUCH OFF & STOP POW TORTURE

The British Government, is currently outsourcing the torture of Irish Prisoners (POWs), through the regular use of sectarian thugs in riot squad attire, let loose within Maghaberry prison, to batter prisoners by pretext and proxy. It's purpose, is to criminalize the prisoners, their political status and their political organization, within the working class communities, they come from. It is intended to batter their Cause and their people's aspirations, into submission.

British Sinn Fein who are part of the current ruling junta in Stormont, consistently say, out of the sides of their mouths, that they are ‘working in the background’, on the issue of brutal conditions in Maghaberry. Their ‘Working in the background’ mantra, is as orifice licking in reality, as is their rhetoric, calling on Irish people, to become informers to British Occupation forces. They too, like the fascist Blueshirt government in the south, have a vested electoral interest, in the preservation of the status quo, in the oppression of opposition, with their gombeen, Irish political collaboration, with the British.

The common people of oppressed communities, are on the contrary, taking to the streets, in protest to demand an end to British brutality. Political Prisoners in Occupied Ireland, have been  subjected to a calculated regime of torture, for the last 45 years now, in the latest troubles in Ireland. The truth is, that only massive campaigns of agitation on the streets, as was the case with the 10 hunger strike martyrs, by ordinary Irish people, at home and abroad, will force the British ruling junta, to comply with International Law and standards, on the treatment of POWs.

There is also  a humanitarian aspect to this issue, which needs to be publicized, to appeal to the humanitarian conscience, of both the European and International community, to broaden support. This will definitely increase, the number of people involved in the protest movement. The humanitarian aspect of Maghaberry's brutal conditions, are again a political symptom, of Britain's centuries-old Imperialist role in Ireland. The torturous conditions and covert political internment by remand, emphasise their covert continuous Dirty War, against Irish Republican people.

British Sinn Fein, on the one hand, claim the mantle of the ten martyred Hunger Strikers, for electoral purposes, while with the other hand, are a critical part of the oppressive British regime, that keeps the Orange jackboot, on the necks of the defenceless POWs, battered to the ground. In fact in the latest attacks on the prisoners, they left the imprint of the heel of their boots, on the bloodied heads of prisoners, precisely the same treatment, meted out to Bobby Sands and his hunger strike comrades. The sectarian Orange Order prison service know, they can get away with murder, with a secret Orange Order Chief of Police, all under theTories, as they did with Margaret Thatcher.

The campaign for the Maghaberry POWs, must include a public acceptance, that these prisoners are political prisoners. They are Prisoners of War, a British Dirty War, covertly waged against Irish working class people, under the cover of prejudice and bigotry, using the well-worn terrorist narrative, through all organs, of an Orange Scum State, that extends right into sectarian Maghaberry, with the torture of Irish POWs. A recognition of this critical fact and it's explanation to the public, will lead to a better understanding of why, the British are using Kitsonian tactics and Kitson's dirty tricks, against POWs, using torture, while at the same time, using, the judicial conveyor belt, of secret Diplock courts, for covert internment of political oppostion, all with a nod and a wink, from the collaborationist, politcal beneficiaries of British Sinn Fein. 

BRITISH INTERNATIONAL TORTURE

There’s a debate in Britain on whether to hold a judicial inquiry into UK involvement in torture. This comes in the light of last week’sSenate committee report on use in the US of so-called enhanced interrogation techniques – that is, torture.

But the debate should not be about mere UK involvement or complicity in torture. It is the UK’s actual use of torture – most notably in Iraq – that needs judicial scrutiny in public.

That is the story, despite the fact that today’s al-Sweady inquiry found the most serious allegations to be unfounded. And it’s the story the Ministry of Defence seek to cover up now with its constant attack on “unscrupulous lawyers” bringing forward cases on an “industrial scale”.

But if the UK unlawfully kills and tortures Iraqis in detention, as has happened, then the law requires that the state must investigate all of these cases, and do so at the time of the incidents – that is, from 2003 onwards.

The senate report summarised the techniques used against 39 detainees: “electricity; lighted cigarettes; freezing temperatures; withholding medical treatment; forced nudity; sexual humiliation; object rape; beatings with enough violence to break bones; prolonged sleep deprivation and interrogation; mock executions; various forms of sensory deprivation to include confinement in coffin boxes; prolonged standing and suspension from ceilings and door frames to increase stress; threats of harm to family members; and waterboarding.”

But the shocking facts about Iraq are that the UK used all of the above techniques and many more.

In September 2011 the 1,400-page Baha Mousa public inquiry reportpainstakingly documented how the UK had trained its forces in unlawful interrogation techniques at the Defence Intelligence and Security Centre in Chicksands. These techniques included the use of hooding, sleep deprivation, dietary deprivation, stress techniques and the use of noise – techniques banned from Northern Ireland – and much worse: forced nudity, disorientation, threats, debility and many others.

The report had 73 recommendations to eradicate such illegality. But the reality of what we did in Iraq is so much worse. Over the past few months my team has registered claims for judicial review with the high court on behalf of more than 700 Iraqi victims, adding to the 200 cases previously dealt with by high court judgments in May and October 2013. By the end of January there will be more than 1,100 cases of torture, cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, deaths in custody and other unlawful killings. There are at least a further 30 Baha Mousa-type cases we know about.

The book of stories now available is like a latter-day Lord of the Flies, except it describes the work of a modern democratic European state at work in the cradle of civilisation. It is a shocking read: multiple anal rapes and other serious sexual abuse; the routine abuse of women and children; the detention and abuse of minors; the use of dogs; sexual, religious and cultural humiliation; the use of hardcore pornography; serious threats of all types; mock executions. Casual brutality was meted out to all and sundry: to sheikhs in front of their families; to women and children in their homes; to young men held incommunicado; to children casually dispatched by lethal force.

Essentially, as history shows, it was the British who developed coercive interrogation techniques in its counterinsurgency struggles after the second world war. The CIA learned from us, not the other way round.

Further, given that Britain was going into Iraq with the US, there was a political imperative from the highest level for an interrogation capability. The UK wanted to punch its weight with the US.

Today’s al-Sweady report rightly picks up on some of the important systemic issues in play. Though it concludes that allegations of murder and torture made against British soldiers by Iraqi detainees were deliberate lies, its findings that unlawful interrogation techniques were used reinforce the recommendations from the earlier Baha Mousa report. Importantly it picks up on the role of doctors, and medics and finds them to be in dereliction of their duty.

Many of these new Iraqi victims claim to have been seriously abused and assaulted before they were seen by doctors. If the medics had done their job – that is, reported that abuse to their medical commanding officer – the stories of ill treatment would have ended there. Today’s report recommends changes to attempt to bring the doctors into line with their basic duties. It is a further step in the right direction.

What is needed now is a judicial inquiry into Britain’s use of torture in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. It must require the Ministry of Defenceto do what it has refused to do for years: namely, tell the truth as to how many Iraqis died in custody, died as a result of lethal force, or were interrogated. That inquiry can usefully deal with issues of UK complicity too.

Its main focus, though, must be to ensure that UK forces abide by the rule of law and never again act as torturers and wanton killers in foreign fields.

Maghaberry: League Call for International Inquiry
NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE
The Celtic League has written to David Ford MLA, Minister for Justice, expressing concerns about recent disturbances at Maghaberry Prison.
The League point out that in the past they have raised concerns about the prison which was the subject of a critical report from the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment and Punishment.
The League also stress that they have previously accepted assurances that the Office of the Minister for Justice was serious about dealings with concerns and that prisoners rights would be respected and complaints addressed.
However repeated concerns which have been raised have not been resolved by the plethora of domestic agencies charged with this role. Therefore the Celtic League has indicated that the time for an independent external body to address matters at the jail has arrived. We have suggested the UN OHCHR, Special Rapporteur, Juan Mendez, and also the Council of Europe CPT (which has previously visited the prison) as suitable independent agencies.
We trust that the Office of the Minister for Justice will consider these options. In any case the Celtic League will be writing to both bodies to raise our concerns.

The Prison has been the focus of increasing discontent and I understand that republican support groups outside the prison allege the prisoners rights are being abused, they are denied access to family (visits) and attacks on inmates by prison security staff are also alleged.
I understand that today your Office issued a statement rejecting claims that a prisoner had not been ‘seriously’ injured. The qualification begs the question have prisoners been ‘injured’ during the recent difficulties at the prison and what independent assessment has taken place?
You will of course be aware that Maghaberry was the subject of concerns from the Committee for the Prevention of Torture in when it issued a report on a visit to various custody facilities in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in 2009.

Following that report in April 2010 we raised concerns about the situation with the NIO Minister Responsible for Prisons, Paul Goggins, MP, and assurances that matters would be improved were given.
We then corresponded with your Office in August 2010 and we welcomed the assurances you gave at that time that you were
“serious…about protecting the rights and needs of all prisoners within the Northern Ireland prison estate”.

We subsequently raised issues relating to conditions surrounding the circumstances of a person detained at the Prison once again with your Office in July 2011.
In reply to that concern you responded (final paragraph) by setting out in some detail the avenues that were available for prisoners to use to resolve grievances. I quote:
“As you will be aware, the Northern Ireland Prison Service is subject to oversight by a wide range of independent bodies, including the Criminal Justice Inspectorate for Northern Ireland, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons, the Independent Monitoring Board and the Prisoner Ombudsman for Northern Ireland. Should ………… have any concerns with regard to the conditions of …. imprisonment …. also has recourse to a confidential complaints system and to the Prisoner Ombudsman.

Plainly if (as you outlined) there are multiple avenues to utilise to resolve grievances and yet discontent and disturbance continue within the Prison that there is clearly a lack of confidence in, or a failure of effectiveness by, the bodies you mention.
I would respectfully suggest that some independent international agency with a track record of investigating such matters be asked to intervene before matters deteriorate further.
Two such bodies are the United Nations, via the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and their Special Rapporteur, Juan Mendez, part of whose mission is to ‘undertake fact finding missions’, in addition there is the Council of Europe CPT who have already reported (see above) on the Prison and therefore are familiar with the situation there.
I will be copying this letter to both agencies and urging them to consider inquiring into the ongoing discontent at Maghaberry.

Palestine will join the International Criminal Court on April 1, announced UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday. The Palestinians will be able to sue Israel for war crimes, a move the Israeli administration has consistently opposed for decades.

The UN treaty website says that due to the court's procedures “the statute will enter into force for the State of Palestine on April 1, 2015.”

Along with the ICC application, the UN chief approved other sets of documents, enabling Palestine to join 16 international agreements, conventions and treaties.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas signed the ICC application documents on the last day of 2014, following the UN Security Council’s resolution on December 30, which rejected Palestine’s official bid for statehood, a document vetoed by the US in support of Israel.

The Palestinian delegation submitted its ICC application on January 2.

Israel’s immediate reaction was negative.

“We will not let Israel Defence Forces (IDF) soldiers and officers be dragged to the International Criminal Court in The Hague,” Netanyahu said at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting, AFP reported.

The Israeli administration immediately applied financial pressure on the Palestinian Authority, freezing the transfer of half a billion shekels (over $127 million) in monthly tax revenues it collected on behalf of the Palestinians.

The US joined the financial pressure on the Palestinian Authority on Monday, when the Obama administration announced a review of America’s annual $440 million aid package to the Palestinians. As AP pointed out, once the Palestinian Authority apply any case against Israel to the International Criminal Court, US financial help to Palestine will cease immediately under American law.

Joining the ICC will give the Palestinian Authority new and powerful leverage to make Israel more compliant regarding withdrawal from the occupied territories.

In anticipation of the ICC bid last week, Palestinian Ambassador Riyad Mansour announced the Palestinians will prosecute Israel for crimes committed during the war in Gaza last summer. According to Mansour, Palestinians will also sue Israel for constructing settlements on the occupied Palestinian territory.

In late 2014, the Palestine stepped up its efforts to gain international recognition as a sovereign state. It came following the failure of the latest round of US-brokered peace talks with Israel, which was initiated after the bloody 50-day armed conflict in Gaza that left some 2,120 Palestinians and 68 Israelis dead.

Unlike before, this time around the aspirations of the Palestinians have found much wider international support, as many countries have openly spoken in favor of creating a sovereign Palestinian state.

BRITAIN COVERTLY TORTURES POWs IN IRELAND

Britain's most recent Dirty War in Ireland, has now lasted more than 45 years. It has been well documented, right up to the present day in hundreds of books, with thousands of articles published and like any war, it has Prisoners Of War, some politically interned, for up to four years on remand, who often have, the prosecution, suddenly dropped, because of non-existent evidence, before trial. Nevertheless they are all political prisoners and Prisoners of War, in Britain's most recent, dirty campaign in Ireland, which has now lasted almost fifty years.These are substantiated hard facts and not a matter of opinion. Britain under the various Geneva Conventions, International Law and European Law, have obligations, with regard to the treatment of those prisoners. Britain also has made previous agreements, with those prisoners, the latest in 2010, regarding their treatment, but with diversionary pretexts, are instead, employing Kitsonian techniques, to try and criminalize these Irish prisoners, then extending the criminalization, to the resistance among the communities they come from, against British Occupation in Ireland. This vicious cycle is as old as their Occupation in Ireland. These techniques are covered in Kitson's book, 'Low-intensity Operations', on how to break peaceful protest in British Colonies, which has now been extended domestically into England and into the treatment of Irish POWs. Essentially it is a more sophisticated version, of their age-old British doctrine and tricks, of divide and conquer.

The latest episode, involved sending in the most sectarian elements of their prison guards, in riot gear, to batter and trample on the heads and bodies of the defenseless, peaceful, protesting, Irish POWs, two days ago. The serious injuries suffered by the prisoners, have officially been denied by the administration, who at the same time, refuse to allow lawyers or families either speak or examine the prisoners. They have put the prison in lockdown and are waiting for the injuries to heal. While these seriously injured prisoners try to recover in isolation and agony, the British will try to exploit their vulnerability, by making all sorts of promises and threats, in order to get a denial from those brutalized, to fit with the administration's official denial of their brutality and to recruit them as spies, within the POWs. There is recorded previous evidence, of British intelligence, prodding the open wounds of Irish POWs, in order to recruit them. While broken limbs, head fractures and jackboot marks, don't heal in a matter of days, an independent medical assessor will not be allowed either. This is another chapter of British brutality in Ireland, which not alone affects POWs but also their distraught, worried, families and further enrages communities, that have suffered centuries of this sort of brutality. It makes a mockery of the pretext, of any credible peace process in Ireland and puts the status of the ruling British junta in Occupied Ireland, in the tinpot category. By the time the prison or prisoners can be inspected, it will be thoroughly scrubbed of all blood and sanitized, as will their official story of lies, which they privately call spin. It confirms once again, if that was necessary, for any enlightened, civilized, citizen of the world, Britain's status, as an International War Criminal.

Riding the goat, as everyone knows, is a fundamental part of Orange Order culture, indeed the Orange State of Occupied Ireland is based on it. When I was being interrogated in Gough Barracks by the British, I noticed in the photographs thrown in front of me, that several of the goats raped, were in fact kid goats, and while I try not to be judgemental, I was frankly disgusted. So you can imagine my reaction, several years later, when a very expensive inquiry, in the Blueshirt state of the south of Ireland, found that there was systemic human kid rape in that state also. This is part of the horrific history of the Island, since the foundation of the two scum states, founded by Britain, to look after it's interests by proxy, as in their Commonwealth, after their limited official colonial departure. The secrecy around both human and goat kid rape, served British interests well, in that it is an excellent tool, to manipulate the political, judicial, media, etc., instruments of state, with secret blackmail and mentoring. Grooming and manipulation are essential parts, of the dark art of kid rape, cultivated for centuries, by the secret state of Whitehall in London. 

Let there be no mistake about it, the history of John Bull is a brutal bullying one, of extreme sadism, cultivated in his public schools and executed primarily, in Britain's first colony Ireland, over eight centuries ago. The size of Ireland relative to England, is similar in size but Ireland's total population, is today, one tenth of their neighbour. We can factor in all sorts of equations into this reality but at it's core is the fact, that at the minimum, more the equivalent of Ireland's population today, were victims of British genocide, somewhere in the region of seven million people, which any honest researcher, can confirm for themselves independently. This core fact, is just one of the truths, that can set Ireland free, when exposed, at the International Criminal Court and elsewhere uncensored. If Irish Republicans, put half their co-ordinated energy, into exposing these facts, in our modern age of communication, rather than engaging in reactionary violence, we will liberate ourselves and our people. Of course, it is much easier for me to write this, in my current location with detachment, far from the immediate trauma of conflict, rather than those current victims, caught up, in the web of British Dirty War brutality in Ireland.

Take for example, the many current POWs (Prisoners of War) in Maghaberry, Occupied Ireland. Two days ago the British sent in their Orange sectarian thugs, in the uniform of a riot squad, to quell a peaceful protest, by prisoners, in horrific conditions of incarceration. These sectarian thugs in British uniform, danced on the heads of Irish prisoners and battered them, to the point of serious injuries, then leaving the prisoners, locked up in their cells, in agony, with serious physical injuries, unattended to. They then as usual, sanitized their behaviour, with their considerable PR machine, excusing it on the basis of some graffiti, written on a toilet wall, threatening the prison administration. Now I don't know the complete truth of the graffiti, it could have been written by anyone, but I do know, that the wives and children of the prisoners are currently distraught with worry, about the condition of their loved ones. The communities of the POWs are enraged about this incessant British brutality and bullying. There were protesters from all over Ireland, outside the prison gates in a state of fury about all of this. The families and lawyers  of the POWs are not allowed to communicate, with any of their loved ones, or ascertain their condition, as they are in total lockdown. Now you don't have to be Einstein to figure, that this is not by any means, peace process procedure or to figure out, where this recipe is all leading.

The bottom line is, that Britain is ignoring EU Law, with regard to the treatment of prisoners, indeed I would suggest, they are being purposely and intentionally provocative, to hide even further, behind the provoked fog, of their Dirty War in Ireland, while excusing their own criminality and bullying in Ireland. They have signed up to European Law and are obliged to honour their commitments, both to that Law and a 2010 Agreement with Irish POWs. Now, once again, they are going down the Thatcher route, and Irish Republicans know from, decades of experience, exactly where that is leading. Having being through the trauma of the last 10 Hunger Strike deaths of Irish POWs already, Irish people, never want to experience that trauma again. It is a life changing event for whole communities. The fact is, that the island of Ireland is a very sick place, as a result, of centuries of all of this, coupled with, corrupt, proxy, administrations, based on kid rape. International help is badly needed, to help resolve these issues and help people recover from the damage British genocide has done to the Irish psyche. Other than the International Criminal Court, this writer, cannot see any other honest broker, who can help resolve this, in the absence of any honest, native, politicians who seem to be all dehumanized, but I am more than open, to any other possible solutions, wherever they come from, that are realistic and considered.

BRUTAL BRITISH ATTACK ON PEACEFUL IRISH POWS

British sources, have again lied to the media, regarding their attack today on Irish POWs, who are peacefully protesting, inhumane conditions, which were attacked  by their riot squad in Maghaberry, on the prison landings. The British stated, there was no violence and that Irish Republican Prisoners are now, locked in their cells, despite considerable serious injuries, that contradict their lies. The attack on the Irish political prisoners by the riot squad, they claimed only involved 40 POWs, however reliable sources from within the prison, have stated that many POWs were systematically brutalized, in an ongoing campaign by the British, to batter and criminalize Irish political prisoners, into submission by their brutal prison regime, that ignores European Law, with regard to the treatment of prisoners. 

One of the POWS, Martin Kelly has just received emergency treatment by a doctor belatedly after he and others were beaten savagely by the Riot Squad. Martin was eventually dragged by his hair, from a large pool of blood in his cell, and is reported to be in a shocking, mangled state, with his head covered in blood and still bleeding profusely, hours after the brutal attack on the POWs. His comrades have revealed, that the British Riot Squad, danced on his head, for a considerable period of time. His arm is broken and his body covered in lacerations. The injuries to the other POWs are not clear, as they are ignored and locked in their cells, without medical examination. There is currently a large protest vigil, by people from all over Ireland, outside the prison gates, awaiting updates, regarding the condition of the Irish POWs.

Britain has a long history of brutalizing and torturing Irish POWs, defying European Law, under which they are obliged to provide, humane conditions. British POWs were always treated humanely in Europe, where even in the Second World War, the Nazi's adhered to International Conventions, with regard to their treatment. However the British Dirty War in Ireland, extends right into their prisons, to include the brutal treatment of Irish POWs, where it is meant to provoke further violence, from their communities, to justify their occupation and brutality, in Occupied Ireland. All of this is a continuation of British prison policy, which previously led to the death of 23 Irish hunger strikers and ominously appears to be a repeat of British savage history, in Ireland.

PRISONERS OF CONSCIENCE PERSECUTED IN OCCUPIED IRELAND AGAIN

Before the last 10 hunger strikers died in Ireland back in the 80's, there was a dirt strike in Britain's Long Kesh concentration camp in occupied Ireland. The leading churchman in Ireland at that time, was Cardinal O'Fiach, who visited the prisoners on July 31st, 1978, and condemned the conditions, when he said: “Having spent the whole of Sunday in the prison, I was shocked at the inhuman conditions prevailing in H-Blocks 3,4 and 5 where over 300 prisoners were incarcerated. One would hardly allow an animal to remain in such conditions, let alone a human being. The nearest approach to it that I have seen was the spectacle of hundreds of homeless people living in sewer pipes in the slums of Calcutta. The stench and filth in some cells, with the remains of rotten food and human excreta scattered around the walls, was almost unbelievable. In two of them I was unable to speak for the fear of vomiting. The prisoners’ cells are without beds, chairs or tables. They sleep on mattresses on the floor, and in some cases I noticed they were quite wet. They have no covering except towel or blanket, no books, newspapers or reading material except the Bible (even religious magazines have been banned since), no pens or writing material, or TV, or radio, no hobbies or handcrafts, no exercise or recreation. They are locked in their cells for almost the whole of every day and some of them have been in this condition for more than a year and a half.”

The prisoners lived like that for up to five years before Bobby Sands and nine of his comrades, gave their young lives, in the only form of protest left to them, a hunger strike.


Today in Ireland despite a much publicized Bad Friday agreement, hyped with a media, controlled by the British intelligence services and the BBC world service, the conditions in Occupied Ireland's remaining concentration camp, have returned to similar conditions, described above.The media hyped leadership, that sold a surrender to its people, as a peace package, has forgotten their working class roots, while pandering to a gombeen class, found in most consumerist societies,while ignoring the H-Block mandate of Bobby Sands and his comrades, that brought them to power.In the 800 years of resistance to the British occupation of Ireland, British prisons and concentration camps, have held thousands upon thousands of Irish political prisoners, many without trial.


Today the usual British conveyor belt system, to lock up any form of dissent to British occupation, is still in place, where prisoners are put away for scores of years without a trial by a jury, on the word of British agents. A few weeks ago the brother of Maireid Farrell who was shot in cold blood in Gibraltar along with two of her companions, all unarmed was put away for years to await a trial without a jury, on the word of a British policeman who simply stated, that he might sympathetic to Irish political dissidents.Anyone vaguely familiar with Ireland's struggle for freedom, knows that the return of the present prison persecution, yet again of Irish political prisoners of conscience, is the spark that returns Occupied Ireland to outright war against the British like the murders of Bloody Sunday did or the deaths of the last ten Hunger strikers who were on a similar protest.Again, anyone familiar with Ireland's struggle, knows that a return to full scale military conflict without this issue and the issue of British occupation resolved in a genuine manner.


The last Hunger strike, proves that if you back Irish Political prisoners of conscience into a corner, without an option for redress, they will go all the way. There are various careerist politicians, posturing and making grunts of synthetic support but the POW's are relying on the people of no property on the street, to resolve the issue.Other than violence there is only one option available to resolve all of these issues with Irish interests protected. The Irish international diaspora in the US, Australia and Britain numbering 70 million worldwide must be mobilized. It is a mammoth task that can only be accomplished with co-ordination and dedication but with modern technology such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc., it is possible, with a focussed, dedicated, unified, core group, that will not compromise the interests of Ireland like its politicians worldwide have. You can be certain the group will face all sorts of attempted sabotage.


Throughout the troubles in Ireland over the last phase, there have been many calls for a peaceful way forward, this is the only option. The Jews for example in Britain, US and abroad are punching way above their weight, in the big numbers of elected representative in those countries, despite a much smaller population, relative to the Irish. The Holocaust is given as the primary motivator for this, with the death of 6 million people, well Ireland lost more than 6 million people in the Holocaust of the Great Hunger engineered by the British, more than the Jews lost.Its simply not enough to make hollow, vacuous calls for peace in Ireland, without giving prisoners and activist of conscience a choice or an option!


If we truly are sincere about peace in Ireland and have an iota of love or nature left in us for our country, then we must mobilize, NOW !.I want anyone reading this to carefully consider this option or its alternative of thousand mored lives being lost in endless struggle. It will also require people of integrity, along with an interactive membership to keep the group on track for peaceful Irish interests, without again selling Ireland short, as has happened far too often in the past.


So its up to you, a chara, to help make it happen but I do not want to hear any more empty, heartless, brainless, calls for peace in the absence of the necessary work, to honour the people of conscience left in our country, without giving them an option to realize their dreams peacefully!
