Martin Corey is a former Provisional IRA member. Forty years ago in 1973, he took part in a Provisional IRA ambush on British occupation forces with Peter McVeigh and William Meehan. In 1973, Martin along with his two comrades, were sentenced to life imprisonment. He was released in June 1992 after serving almost 20 years in captivity.
He was interned again without trial on April 16, 2010 on the basis of secret hearsay evidence from a paid informant. On July 9, Judge Treacy ruled that Martin Corey's human rights had been breached and ordered his release immediately on unconditional bail. This was overruled by the un-
elected British Viceroyal from England in British Occupied Ireland and Martin was interned again
without trial.
On July 10, the matter was referred back to the court to be reviewed by a different judge, handpicked by the British, Judge McCloskey who delayed Martin's release until an appeal court the next day. The appeal was heard on July 11, by the handpicked British Judge McCloskey again. He upheld the Viceroyal overruling of the court and referred it back to be heard at another date again, etc., etc., ..ad infinitum.....
On the 14th of February 2013, Martin had a visit from his partner, after which she went to the collection point as requested by Martin. She was told there was no items for collection. Martin recently completed a complaints form, to be delivered to the Prison Ombudsman, concerning items that were left in for him three weeks ago, which he never received. Martin contrary to normal practice, has still not received notice, that his complaint has been delivered to the Prison Ombudsman. This is just another example of the petty sectarianism, that is ongoing against this 63 year old traditional Irish Republican from Lurgan, Co. Armagh in British Occupied Ireland, who will die interned like Marian Price, if British bigotry has its way.
