I acknowledge Internment by remand exists in Ireland

New year statement from Independent Republican Councillor / cns eire spokesperson
Angela Nelson. .... NEW YEAR NEW CHALLENGES
Friends and comrades as we enter into the year 2014 I sincerely wish each and every one of you and your families’ good health and a peaceful new year.
What I also want for 2014 is that no further Father, Mother, Son or Daughter is incarcerated within a prison wall.
I do not want to see the tears of little children watching their daddies/mummies being subjected to the stop/search and abuse by an unaccountable police force.
I do not want to witness the continuation of our people being “Interned by Remand” for long and lengthy periods.
I do not want to see our prisoners subjected to humiliating strip searches by a sectarian prison service.
I do not want to see our Republican Prisoners being further punished by being denied medical treatment or being refused access to the Republican wing, when the loss of Liberty is in itself a punishment.
What I want is a “Conflict Free Environment” for our prisoners where basic human rights are acknowledged and given.
What I want is a fair and just society, for us all to live and raise our children and grandchildren without fear, without injustice and without British Occupation.
Sadly we do not live in a free country nor will it be given back to us without our demanding it, nor will we be given anything without our strong collective voices shouting for it from the rooftops and taking to the streets.
Comrades my wish for 2014 is that every Republican shows their support on the streets when they can, going to marches against Internment or any of the other Republican Event that is being organised by true Republicans.
If we believe in each other and support each other as Families do then those that oppress us will learn this lesson
“IF YOU KICK ONE OF US WE WILL ALL LIMP”
SOLIDARITY FOR 2014
Independent Republican Councillor
Angela Nelson.
